What is Generate?
The AI Content Generator (Generate) for YouTube is a powerful feature that simplifies the video content creation process. This innovative tool harnesses the power of artificial intelligence to help you generate creative content ideas and plan your videos effectively.
By leveraging advanced machine learning algorithms, the AI Content Generator provides highly relevant and engaging content suggestions tailored to your channel and audience. Whether you’re struggling with content ideation or looking for inspiration, this tool is designed to make your creative process smoother, easier, and more productive.
How to get Started with Generate
If you're using the vidIQ web app: First, log in to your vidIQ account. Once you're in, you'll see a "Generate" section on the left of the navigation bar.
Let's "Make a video about..."
At the top of the Generate tab, you’ll find the “Make a video about…” search bar. This feature allows you to enter a topic or idea you’re interested in creating a video about. Once you enter a keyword or phrase, we will generate a list of video ideas tailored to your input, complete with potential titles, descriptions, and even thumbnails.
For example, if you enter “YouTube Growth Tips,” the tool might suggest ideas like:
• “Top 5 Mistakes to Avoid for Faster YouTube Growth”
• “How to Get Your First 1,000 Subscribers in 30 Days”
• “The Ultimate Guide to YouTube SEO: Rank Higher with These Tips”
Please note that the free/basic plan offers three generations, while the vidIQ paid plans offer unlimited generations.
Adding Likeness
The Likeness feature adds a personalized touch to your AI-generated thumbnails by allowing you to incorporate your face into the designs. When you enable the “Use my face in thumbnails” option, the tool uses AI face-swapping technology to place your face onto the generated thumbnail images, making them unique and instantly recognizable to your audience.
For the best results when using the Likeness feature, make sure to upload an image that meets the following criteria:
• File Type: JPEG preferred.
• Image Quality: A clear headshot with high resolution.
• Framing: Single person in the frame, facing forwards.
• Lighting: Bright and even lighting for better face detection and image quality.
If you want to remove or change the picture you added for the likeness feature, feel free to click on the Options menu next to the search bar, then click on Edit, and then remove the picture by clicking on the "X":
You can easily toggle this feature on or off based on your preference if you open the Options menu and toggle off the Likeness feature:
Customization Window Overview
The customization window in the Generate feature provides a comprehensive platform for refining the content generated. It includes several features to enhance the video script, voiceover, outline, tags, and thumbnail.
Edit your input and Related Keywords recommended: Includes a display of your initial input in case you want to regenerate the content and provides a list of highly relevant keywords suggested by AI to maximize your video’s visibility. Each keyword is accompanied by a number that indicates its Overall score (or Keyword Score), which is determined to help gauge how effective a keyword would be in your video optimization efforts.
Title: Displays an AI-generated video title based on your initial input. You can edit this title to reflect your content, target audience better, or include specific keywords for SEO purposes. You also have the option to tweak the suggested titles using the Refine feature (Make shorter, make longer, change tone, etc.) and copy the title to your clipboard.
Description: Shows an AI-generated description tailored to your video’s topic. You can edit this text to optimize it for search engines further, provide additional context, or emphasize specific points that align with your content strategy and copy the description to your clipboard.
You also have the option to tweak the suggested description using the Refine feature to refine based on tags/keywords:
Tags: This offers a list of suggested tags that are most relevant to the video content; each tag is accompanied by a number that indicates its Overall score (or Keyword Score), which is determined to help gauge how effective a keyword would be in your video optimization efforts. You also have the option to copy the tags to your clipboard.
Thumbnail: Provides a selection of AI-generated thumbnails designed to be visually appealing and contextually relevant to your content. You can choose a thumbnail from this selection and add your personal touch.
To download the thumbnail, click on it. A button will then appear with the option to edit and download the thumbnail.
Hook: Generates an engaging opening line or statement to draw viewers in from the very beginning. You can use the AI suggestion, and you also have the option to tweak the suggested titles using the Refine feature (change the Hook to be a Challenge, a Claim, a Fact, a Problem, a Promise, or a Question.) And also the option to copy the title to your clipboard.
Outline: Lays out a framework for your video, dividing it into key segments such as Hook, Introduction, Presentation of Problem/Challenge, Exploration/Development, and Climax/Key Moment. This structure is designed to maintain viewer engagement throughout. You have the flexibility to adjust, add, or reorder these sections.
Script: Contains the full script for your video, built around the provided outline. You can review and regenerate the script or copy the script to your clipboard.
Voiceover: appears at the end of the customization window only after a script has been generated. This feature allows users to listen to a generated voiceover of the script, giving them an audio representation of their video content. You can download it or regenerate it.
Preview your Thumbnail
Also, you can Preview your Thumbnail, which allows you to see how a video thumbnail would appear across different sections of YouTube, helping you ensure it stands out and attracts viewers. Click on the Eye/Preview icon to preview your thumbnail and title:
This feature allows you to visualize your thumbnail in various contexts and make data-driven adjustments to optimize performance. Here’s how you can use the feature:
1. Home Page (Browser): Preview how your thumbnail would look on YouTube’s homepage, where users are presented with a mix of recommended videos. This helps you understand if your thumbnail grabs attention among a variety of content.
2. Search Results Page: See how your thumbnail appears when users search for keywords related to your video. This preview shows whether your thumbnail stands out among competing videos in search results.
3. Mobile View: Preview your thumbnail on the mobile version of YouTube. Given the growing number of mobile users, ensuring your thumbnail looks appealing on smaller screens is essential.
4. Next to Videos on Browser (Home Page, Without Details): Visualize how your thumbnail will look when displayed alongside other videos on YouTube’s homepage without additional details like the title, publication date, or views. This is crucial for understanding if your thumbnail can attract clicks purely on visual appeal.
Additionally, you can customize the preview with the following options:
5 & 6. Light/Dark Mode Toggle: Switch between light and dark mode previews to see how your thumbnail performs under different background settings. This ensures your thumbnail looks excellent regardless of the user’s YouTube theme preference.
7. Refresh Button: Use the refresh button to update and new display results.
The Preview Your Thumbnail feature provides a visual representation of how your thumbnail might appear in different contexts on YouTube. It helps you get a feel for its visibility and appeal, but it won’t exactly match the real-world placements or the surrounding videos once your content is published. YouTube’s algorithm considers many factors to determine video performance and visibility, so use this feature as a guide to optimize your thumbnail for maximum impact.
