Step-by-Step Guide to Effective YouTube Channel Management

Effectively managing your YouTube channel is key to unlocking its full potential. Whether you're a content creator or an enterprise user, you need to stay on top of channel authentication, addition, removal, and reauthentication. In this article, we'll guide you through each process to ensure you get the most value from tools like vidIQ.

Authenticating a YouTube Channel:

If you're new to vidIQ, authenticating your YouTube channel will grant you access to valuable features such as custom recommendations, video analytics, and subscriber analysis.

To authenticate your YouTube channel, please follow these steps:

  • Sign up or log in to your vidIQ account.

  • Visit the vidIQ welcome page: https://app.vidiq.com/welcome

  • Click the button “Authenticate your YouTube channel”.

  • Sign in to the Google account associated with your YouTube channel.

  • Choose the channel you'd like to add to vidIQ.

  • Click the “Allow” button to grant access to your channel.

Please note that the main enterprise account must have a channel authenticated before all administrative options are available, such as adding admins and inviting channels.

Adding an Additional YouTube Channel:

If you have multiple YouTube channels or an enterprise subscription, you can easily add and manage them within vidIQ.

To add an additional YouTube channel, please follow these steps:

  • Sign up or log in to your vidIQ account.

  • Visit the vidIQ welcome page: https://app.vidiq.com/welcome

  • Click the button “Add Channel”.

  • Sign in to the Google account associated with your additional YouTube channel.

  • Choose the channel you'd like to add to vidIQ.

  • Click the “Allow” button to grant access to your channel.

Keep in mind that the main enterprise account must have a channel authenticated before all administrative options are available.

Removing a YouTube Channel:

Your Boost (for 3 or 5 channels) or Enterprise subscription allows you to add and manage multiple YouTube channels simultaneously. If you need to remove a channel from your account, follow these steps:

  • Log in to your vidIQ account.

  • Navigate to the top-right corner and click on your icon.

  • Choose the channel you'd like to remove from vidIQ.

  • Click the "Channel Settings" button.

  • Confirm the action by clicking the red button "Remove this channel".

Reauthenticating a YouTube Channel:

If any changes occur in your YouTube settings (e.g., channel name), you can reauthenticate your channel to ensure vidIQ updates your channel's data. Reauthenticating a channel will not delete the channel's data within vidIQ.

In order to reauthenticate your channel:

  • Navigate to the top-right corner and click on your icon.

  • Click on "Channel Settings."

  • Click the "Re-authenticate" button.

  • Complete the authentication steps.
