What are Feed Cards?

For a comprehensive intro video, check out New vidIQ Feed Overview video. In it, we break down why Feed cards are personalized to your channel, and how they surface one clear action at a time, so you can focus on what matters most.

Feed Cards are personalized insight blocks that appear on your vidIQ Home dashboard. Each card highlights a specific opportunity for your channel, whether it’s improving a title, refining metadata, spotting trends, or learning from well-performing videos.

Instead of overwhelming you with everything at once, Feed Cards surface one focused action at a time, based on your channel’s recent activity, uploads, and performance signals.

Think of them as clever prompts that guide you toward meaningful improvements, right when they matter most. Feed Cards are designed to remove decision fatigue. Instead of navigating dashboards, charts, or multiple tools, vidIQ surfaces a single, high-impact action you can take right now, so you can move forward without getting stuck in analysis.

How Feed Cards Work

Each Feed Card:

  • Focuses on a single optimization area

  • Is tailored to your channel and recent activity

  • Can be acted on immediately or skipped

  • Helps you move forward without digging through tools

You don’t need to complete every card. The goal is progress, not perfection.

New Feed Cards are temporarily locked on the Free plan. When a card is locked for 12 hours, you’ll see a countdown indicating when it will unlock. Once the timer expires, the card becomes fully accessible.

If you’d prefer immediate access, you can unlock the card by upgrading to one of vidIQ’s paid plans.

Types of Feed Cards

Below are the most common Feed Cards and how each one helps you:

Title Suggestions

The Title Suggestion card appears when vidIQ identifies an opportunity to improve a video's positioning through its title. It surfaces alternative title options based on performance signals, viewer behavior, and similar content.

This card helps you quickly compare different title directions and evaluate which version may better capture attention or align with the viewer's current interests.

Thumbnail Insights

Thumbnail Insight cards appear when there may be an opportunity to improve how your video stands out visually among other content.

They focus on how your thumbnail performs at a glance and help highlight when clarity, contrast, focus, or visual direction could be improved to increase click potential.

Add Missing Tags

The Missing Tags card appears when vidIQ detects that a video could benefit from additional or more relevant tags. It surfaces tag suggestions for your video topic to help YouTube better understand your video and improve overall metadata completeness.

Remember, according to Google: "Tags can be useful if the content in your video is commonly misspelled. Otherwise, tags play a minimal role in helping viewers find your video."

Add Missing Descriptions

The Missing Description card appears when vidIQ detects that a video is missing a description or could benefit from one. It surfaces a suggested description based on the video’s content and context, helping ensure your video has complete metadata for viewers and YouTube.

From this card, you can review the suggested description, expand it to see more details, and publish it directly if you’re happy with the result. Like other Feed cards, you can also dismiss it or ask vidIQ for additional guidance through AI Coach.

Trending Keywords

Trending Keyword cards highlight topics that are gaining momentum within your niche. They surface rising search interest to help you spot opportunities early, whether you’re planning new uploads or looking for ideas that align with what viewers are actively searching for.

Niche Outliers

Niche Outlier cards showcase videos in your niche that are performing significantly better than average. They help you observe patterns in topics, formats, titles, or thumbnails that are currently resonating with viewers, offering insight into what’s capturing attention right now.

New Traffic From Related Videos

New Traffic From Related Videos cards highlight videos that are currently sending viewers to your content through YouTube’s recommendation system. Instead of focusing on search or trends, this card helps you understand how your videos are being discovered. It is especially useful for spotting unexpected traffic sources and learning what kind of content YouTube is already associating with your videos.

Milestones & Achievements

These cards appear when your channel reaches a milestone, such as a new views record or an early growth achievement. They’re designed to highlight progress and celebrate wins (big or small) so you can track momentum over time.

Milestone cards don’t require action, but they help you understand how your channel is progressing historically.

Interacting with Feed Cards

From any Feed card, you can:

Apply or publish improvements

Some cards allow you to apply changes directly to your video or channel. Depending on the card, this may include updating titles, thumbnails, tags, or descriptions. The exact action label may vary, but the goal is always the same: quickly turn a suggestion into a live update.

Regenerate or refresh suggestions

Cards that offer creative or optimization ideas may let you refresh suggestions to explore alternatives. This helps you compare options and choose what fits your content best.

Ask vidIQ for guidance

Every Feed Card includes an option to ask vidIQ. This opens the AI Coach with context from the card you’re viewing, so you can explore the recommendation in more depth.

From here, you can:

  • Ask why a specific suggestion is being made.

  • Explore related ideas or alternative approaches.

  • Get strategic advice tailored to your channel and goals.

This is especially helpful if you want to dig deeper into a trending keyword, understand a title recommendation, or explore next steps beyond the initial suggestion.

Dismiss a card

If a suggestion isn’t relevant right now, you can dismiss the card. Dismissed cards are removed from your Feed and won’t reappear.

Important: Once a card is dismissed, it won’t reappear. Use this if the suggestion isn’t relevant, but avoid dismissing cards you may want to revisit later.

Why Feed Cards Matter

Feed Cards are designed to reduce guesswork. Instead of asking “What should I work on next?”, vidIQ highlights the most impactful opportunity based on your channel’s current state. Over time, regularly acting on Feed Cards can help you:

  • Make faster optimization decisions

  • Stay aligned with trends in your niche

  • Improve consistency across titles, thumbnails, and metadata
