Want to repurpose your best long-form content into Shorts without hours of editing? The vidIQ Clipping feature instantly turns your full-length videos into ready-to-share Shorts—perfectly reframed, subtitled, and optimized for maximum reach.

🚀 Accessing Clipping

  1. Log in to your vidIQ account.

  2. On the left-hand menu, click Create, then select Clipping.

💡 Already logged in? Jump straight to the Clipping tool here: Clipping

You’ll get 150 credits per month on our paid plans (1 minute of video=1 credit.). The clipping tool is not available in the Free/Basic plan.

🎬 Creating Clips in Minutes

1. Upload your video or paste a YouTube link

  • Upload a video directly (.mp4 format, up to 1GB, 4K supported, maximum 2 hours of video length can be processed).

  • Or paste your YouTube video URL (must be public or unlisted).

  • For optimal results, videos should include faces and speech.

  • Preferably, videos should be longer than 3 minutes. Shorter videos may not provide enough material for the feature to generate high-performance clips.

2. Optional: Add a prompt

Tell the tool what you want clipped (e.g., “clip the biggest reaction”). If no prompt is provided, Clipping will automatically select the most relevant moments.

Before generating your clips, select your preferred length (Short: 20–45s, Medium: 45–60s, Long: 60s+). If no length is chosen, Clipping will automatically pick the best length based on your content.

3. Generate your clips

Click “Get Clips” for our system to start processing the video and generate the clips.

The processing time usually takes 20–30 minutes, depending on your video’s length.

Don’t want to wait around? No worries, you’ll get an email notification the moment your clips are ready, so you can move on to other tasks without missing a beat.

4. Download & Publish

Once the clips are ready, you’ll see multiple generated clips after you click on the processed video.

You can preview and download clips individually or all at once to upload directly as Shorts on YouTube. If you want to post your clips directly to YouTube, click the Publish button, fill out the Title, Description, set when it will be published (scheduled or immediate), and choose the video's privacy setting (Public, Unlisted, or Private). Then, click "Publish" to upload them directly to your YouTube channel.

🎯 Why Clipping Works

  • Automatically selects the most engaging moments (unless prompted otherwise).

  • Reformats for vertical viewing.

  • Includes clear, automatic subtitles to maximize viewer retention.

  • Saves hours of manual editing.

In short: Spend less time editing and more time growing your channel.
